St. John the Baptist Day
The Feast of St. John the Baptist, forerunner of Christ, on June 24th, is strongly felt in the popular tradition of Modena.
Legend holds that this person has magical powers and that during this night all the forces of nature come into synergy, gaining powers that verge on the supernatural.
For this reason, the day is still celebrated with fair stands and events in many towns in the plains and mountains.
"S'te vol che ai pàgn la tèrma l'an-n gh'faga dan, fagh ciapèr la guàza ed san Zvàn" (If you don't want the moths to ruin your clothes, have them bathed in the dew on St. John's Day).
